Youth (age 14-20) and their advisors from across the country will be
invited to this exciting annual conference May 18-21, 2007. CanUUdle VII
will have a home base at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver (UCV) with
multigenerational events taking place at University of British Columbia
(UBC)
Friday evening begins with whole community joining together at the ACM
Ingathering, UBC Student Union Building. Buses will take CanUUdle
participants back to UCV following the Ingathering Ceremonies.
Multigenerational Day Saturday begins at lunchtime with a Picnic at UBC,
workshop choices after lunch, a multigenerational Empty Bowls dinner
Saturday – and additional evening workshops. All multigenerational day
costs are included in CanUUdle VII registration fee. Youth-led worship,
a highlight for many, is Saturday night.
Sunday’s CanUUdle programs and meals are at UCV. Buses will take
CanUUdle participants back to UBC for closing Monday, where an optional
transitions ceremony for youth bridging from ‘youth to young adult’ is
held.
Youth can choose to attend a variety of inspiring, challenging and FUN
workshops during ACM multigenerational day and at their CanUUdle
conference. At CanUUdle VII there will be updates from Terre
Commune-Winds of Change, the consultative conference held over the
labour day weekend in Winnipeg. Terre Commune leaders may speak to
certain proposals they hope will bring positive change in youth ministry
systems and structures for the CUC.
This conference includes a business meeting of our Canadian UU youth,
speeches for Youth Observer to the Board, election of YRUU Canadian at
Large representative to UUA YRUU Youth Council and national youth Social
Action Coordinator (NatSac).
Details will be sent out on youth lists as “news breaks” and updates
will be posted here as well.
It is the responsibility of each youth attending and their youth group
to ensure appropriate sponsorship at CanUUdle. If advisors are not
attending with their congregation’s youth, the youth MUST arrange for an
advisor from another congregation to sponsor them.
All advisors and adult staff attending a CUC national youth conference
must have a completed Police Records Check.
Separate additional registration required.
Pre-registration by April 1, 2007.
Cost: $85 youth $45 advisors.
