Special Performance at the 2008 ACM: JUST FOOD
The
Kingston Unitarian Fellowship will present the play “JUST
FOOD” following the Multigenerational lunch in the
cafeteria on Sunday. This performance will feature giant
puppets, story banners and original music, and will
explore some of the perils of our global food system and
the benefits of eating locally. Written and directed by
Gordon Darrall and Reverend Wendy Luella Perkins, this
multigenerational show of performers will be enjoyed by an
audience of all ages.
Thinking Green at Mealtime!
Vegetarian meals will be offered throughout the 2008 ACM.
Before you dine – consider the following:
-
Killing a sentient being is seen by some to be unethical
/ immoral;
-
The
treatment of animals raised for mass-produced meat, milk
and eggs is often cruel;
-
Environment: Meat production uses much more of the
earth’s resources than the production of vegetable
protein;
-
The
choice of meat for the main source of protein usually
results in a higher level of fat-intake for the eater.
-
The
residual antibiotics and hormones found in some meats
are not beneficial to humans, and potentially harmful.
