James Ishmael Ford

James I. Ford  is the Senior Minister at the First Unitarian Society in Newton (Boston), Massachusetts

He is also a Master in two Zen lineages...

 

   

 

 

The co-chairs of the Buddhist Practice Group at Toronto First.

   

The basics of sitting meditation ("zazen").

 

"So let me see if I understand this Zen riddle [Koan]...  There's this guy from the West without a beard..."

 

"Sorry, Master,  But this koan
is making my brain hurt!"

 

"Hey, living in the present is kinda cool!"

"Sometimes you need to sit on the cushion and SHUT-UP!
Sometimes you need to get up an DO something!"

(Flowers are not yet in season; but plastic cups are!)

I guess I didn't need this bullet-proof vest here in Toronto...

 

"You mean we're already enlightened?!!!"

Service the following day.
