Welcome
to the website of the
Unitarian Congregations of
Greater Toronto...
Unitarians celebrate the unity
and interdependence of web of all existence. We each explore our place in
the universe in different ways - true to our own conscience and
experience. We pursue our individual search for truth and meaning
in community with like-minded individuals.
Unitarians value both spiritual insight and rational enquiry.
Some draw extensively from formal religious traditions; others regard
themselves as Humanists. Some have words like “God” and “Goddess”
in their vocabulary; others do not. All of us see our personal
theology or philosophy as subjective – within the context of the
interconnected whole.
Our sense of connection is demonstrated by our respect for the
inherent worth and dignity of every person. We are called to act
with compassion, generosity and integrity in all human relations.
You will find Unitarians at the forefront of social action – driven by
our commitment to a fair, diverse and sustainable global community.
Our long-standing tradition evolves to remain relevant and vital… ever moving ever still
As
Unitarians, we
covenant to affirm and promote…
-
The
inherent worth and dignity of every person;
-
Justice,
equity and compassion in human relations;
-
Acceptance
of one another and encouragement to spiritual
growth in our congregations;
-
A
free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
-
The
right of conscience and the use of the democratic
process within our congregations and within
society at large;
-
The
goal of world community, with peace, liberty, and
justice for all;
-
Respect
for the interdependent web of all existence of
which we are a part.
