Congregational Resources

Lakehead Unitarian Fellowship

Many Unitarians and Universalists are active in social justice issues either individually or as a congregation. Some congregations vote on an “issue of the year”.

The CUC and its congregations are active in many ways. Read what some Unitarian Universalists say about why we get involved in social responsibility issues

Act Local – Think National!

We encourage congregations to consider CUC resolutions when planning their strategies around social change. Adding reference to a national resolution or action in your local events can encourage support and interest in your endeavours.

Important Dates

Linking social responsibility actions and events to significant dates can help you increase awareness of the issue; link with other organizations and even get media coverage. To find out more of how our congregations or the CUC honour these important dates or to suggest an addition, send email to info@cuc.ca.

Congregational Manual

Finding Common Voice is a manual for congregations which, among other things, provides outlines for meetings; sample policies and networking suggestions.

Refugee Sponsorship
Several of our congregations have been involved in refugee sponsorship either directly under the  CUC’s Sponsorship Agreement Holder or with a group of other religious organizations. Working under the CUC’s agreement with Citizenship and Immigration Canada can enables our congregations to more easily move through the steps necessary to sponsor refugees.

Sanctuary
Several Canadian congregations have offered sanctuary. CUC has publicly supported religious groups’ right to provide sanctuary.
